advertisers access your personal photos. >>> the unusual method police say thieves used to steal from a store in concord this morning. and this was the second such crime in this area. good afternoon, i'm tori campbell. a car was driven right into a game stop store overnight. and police say it was part of a smash and grab robbery. brian floyd joins us to explain the specific items targeted. good afternoon, brian. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. this particular game stop was hit in the early morning hours. but at this hour, you can see that the store remains closed by this sign right here, it will be closed until further notice. and the windows that the car went through are also boarded up right now. they're expected to be replaced pretty soon. we're live here at the clayton valley shopping center. but according to concord police, the car which is a silver honda crashed through here around 4:00 a.m. the store alarm went off and police arrived. the driver was nowhere to be seen. further investigation has revealed that the car may have actually been stolen from redwood city. and i

rethinking security, ktvu's david stevenson joins us now. >> reporter: this san francisco school has long kept posted the rules it hopes that will keep students safe but today other grade levels are looking at campus security. >> reporter: as students enjoyed a break, officials were busy reviewing their emergency plans in the wake of the sandy hook elementary school massacre. >> pull kids out of the hallway, lock doors, stay away from windows, wait for law enforcement. >> reporter: the focus on security isn't limited to elementary school students. >> every school age and every developmental age is different for how you address this. >> reporter: they expected some students to be too upset to take finals today. >> wasn't any heavy absence today and when they got oo home room -- to home room there were more teachers open. >> reporter: the school increased security in the halls along with security guards that front door. administrators they none of the students have come in for counseling. >> but we openly extend our doors to the students and remind staff they could refer students if th

they had to talk about the massacre. ktvu's david stevenson is in san francisco tonight and tells us how they handled it there. david? >> reporter: frank, parents and the school district worked to explain the massacre to young students here while also working to prevent a similar event from happening here. >> reporter: as newton, connecticut laid to rest some of the children, san francisco worked to reassure children and others. >> it is a sheltering. >> reporter: she says her group sent parents information on how to talk to kids about the tragedy. >> we had the range of feed back from parents. you know, very worried, very emotional. to pragmatic. >> reporter: this principal canceled a press conference to address staffers and students about safety. at other schools counselors were made available. districts asked principal to review their emergency plans. every school has a emergency plan for different scenarios. >> reporter: the superintendent says more fences and locks won't stop someone intent on entering a school. >> it is not about stuff, it is about people, people knowing what t

a bug fogger used to kill fleece. they did not -- flees. they did not leave the home and when firefighters came they were exposed as well. they were sheltered in place and were taking in hazardous vapor. they were able to stop the fogger but eight people were taken to the hospital for treatment, three residents, three firefighters and two ambulance workers and we are told the first responders are okay but we don't know the condition of the people who actually live at this moble home park and we put in a call to find out but they have not gotten back to us yet. i went on the website and it clearly said if you are going to use this type of fogger you have to leave your home and shut all the windows and doors and clearly that did not happen here. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> let's go back over to sal and check in on the early commute, hey, sal. >>> hey, pam, we are off to a decent start and we are doing well on the major roads and i want to mention it is looking good, if you are coming in on the vallejo area, it has been a nice drive with no major problems.

cleaned up because this road is used to get on 280. this whole area was flooded for the past five hours because a hydrant was shooting water into the air. here is a look at this guiser. officers say just before 1:00 a.m., the driver lost control and hit the fire hydrant and kept driving. police caught up with him and arrested him for suspected dui. it took several hours for public work crews to shut off the water because they had a hard time getting to the valve. >> at first, the guiser was about 50 feet high. it was a constant stream of water. it flooded the roadways where we stopped traffic going westbound and we had to block off eastbound traffic as well so the cars would not hydroplane or anything like that. >> reporter: the driver is 22 years old of woodside. police say he was cooperative. public work crews spent the morning mopping up the water and the debris and securing the hydrant of the police were using the parking lot to detour around the flooded area. back out here live, this intersection at sandhill and el camino is back open. you can just see the roads still wet but you c
